I have actually long wanted a feature for forcing the display characteristics
of a given commodity, independent of how it is used in the data file. There
is a "default" directory for giving Ledger hints:
D $1,000.00
However, if you are *more* specific than this, such as using $1,000.000
somewhere in your data file, then the display precision is automatically
extended to match.
There should be another directive that says, "I don't care, show it to me like
this or go home."
