The biggest pro is centralized authentication. if you look at the main page of the wiki, you will see there are several services that require usernames/passwords, so ldap authentication provides one username/password database that all those applications can use instead of having to maintain a different username/password database for each service. The con is that this is overkill for a single application. You don't need to own a semi-tractor and trailer to go buy one jug of milk from one block away. Similarly, you do not need ldap authentication to support one application. > What is the reason for using samba active directory?
