He lived in Leeds for a chunk of his youth, I believe.

He did from being about 3 to about 8, his father Ralph was professor of politics at leeds Uni from 72 to 78 after being at the LSE which he had left after the student "revolt" had been quashed. After Leeds Ralph spent a lot of time in the US and was a big part of the "Chesterfield debates" in the UK in the 90s.

I sat in on a couple of Miliband Snr's lectures at Leeds - as I remember it he was very boring but then I was a member of the WRP...........

David certainly did attend primary school in Leeds for 5 years but both brothers and mother Marion went back to London where the boys eventually attended Haverstock Hill secondary modern.

Given that they were in Leeds from 72 onwards, one can understand a certain affinity to LUFC. However in an interview with Labour uncut our chum says:

"If I’m completely honest I’m a lapsed Leeds United fan. I partly lapsed because I live in Doncaster as an MP, so I have some loyalty to them, and also because we’ve had a pretty dreadful 20 years. I’m getting back into it but I’m moving from being lapsed"

He obviously missed the Leeds United we knew in the 1990s etc................

I think the Leeds United affiliation is probably out of proportion to his love for New labour and Brownite economics which are going to be weighed up against his new found love affair with the trade unions.

Tea time methinks.
