All this pre-supposes that Ridsdale was the only option. Without him being there to run us down the drain, who knows what could have happened? I dare to dream that someone else could have managed things properly and built us up to the heights of the league and European competition without betting it all on black.
All this talk of "wouldn't swap those years for anything" exasperates me. Let me remind you that we won precisely nothing under Ridsdale. I for one am sick of always being a bridesmaid. A few (ultimately fruitless) nights in Europe is the minimum we should have expected by the late 90's, not something to be viewed as the new 'Glory Years'. The man will always be seen badly in my eyes, and his track record since leaving Leeds shows he continues to be clueless in this business.
