Beast locations??? (I must have been watching Hatari at the time....)
BEST locations that should be..... -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Steve Gillen Sent: 28 November 2010 22:30 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [LU] Non LU Pearl & Dean The earliest cinema memory I have is the Saturday morning rush at the Shaftesbury, and, considering we moved from the Osmondthorpe area in 1959, this would make me about 4 years old. My next regular cinema was, and remained for a few years, the Lounge at Headingley - with just occasional forays to the Cottage Road. Does anyone else remember the Pullman seats as they were called then at the Cottage Road? These were like they have at VUE cinemas now, premium larger seats in the beast locations, for an extra price. I remember seeing The Sound of Music when it was first released at the Majestic, which then was the premier cinema in Leeds. I went with my mum. But my favourite, and for no particular reason, was the News Theatre as it was called at the Western City Square station entrance. The Odeon, ABC and the Tower, all got a small share of my city centre cinema visits, but none did very much for me, so no fond memories as such. I can recall in my teens going to the Lyric on Tong Road, but that was only because the girl I was seeing lived at Armley heights (I married her and was married to her for 25 years) This would have been in the very early 1970's and it was really a bit of a fleapit by then. My cinema of choice if I could regularly go back to any of them? The Lounge, every time..... _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman-new.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email [email protected] MARCHING ON TOGETHER
