He reminds mein many ways of Johnathan Douglas - when he kept it simple and did
the easy things he looked good but when he got carried away with 30yd cross
field passes with the side of his boot etc it never came off.
Johnson is similar - yesterday when he just kept the ball moving and used his
strength and power to good effect he was great and I want him to stay, but you
know that he thinks he is better than he is and next timeout he will let
himself (and us) down with long range shots that fly into row Z and 30yard
passes into touch.
If Grayson can control him then he is an asset worth keeping but too often he
gets over confident and ends up costing us points.
If he does indeed go in January we will need to replace him since neither Faye
nor Nunez look up to the task and that only leaves us with Howson and Kilkenny
in CM with no real back-up
As for Bromby I did praise him in my original report saying he seized his
opportunity and I would like to see him either keep his place alongside O'Brien
next game, if Bruce is out (and O'B back) or at least replace Collins on the
bench, because although Collins did OK yesterday (a clean sheet is a big
acheivement for our swashbuckling atttacking team) he does look leaden footed
and very pedestrian, always likely to be caught out by quick moving forwards or
anyone who runs at him whereas Bromby has more to his game.

Johnson – 9. By far his best performance for Leeds. I didn’t think he had
this
type of performance in him and I openly admit that if he can tailor his game
in
this way maybe he can be an important player in this league. He didn’t try
ridiculous long shots and ridiculous long passes or ridiculous chips. He just
played to his limited game – he’s good in the air, he’s strong, he does have
a
nice left foot (we never doubted that) he just controlled the midfield and
let
the others around him do the running and attacking. This was exactly what I
thought of him the one time I have seen the lads play this season (@ Norwich.)
For the first hour he kept it simple and I thought he was
excellent...............but then he started to develop ideas above his station
and he was a liability.
