Well we must disagree on that then :-)

The country would be run the same way with or without a monarch as head of
state, it would cost us more (so a president wouldn't have security?  Duh),
and be less glam darling.

It isn't what you know, it is who you know - that's how life works, here and
everywhere else.  One could become bitter and twisted about hereditary
privilege, or one could worry about more important things going on in your
life and in the world.  Like making a few quid to pass down to your kids or
something.

unusually, the comments are much more enlightening than the shouty sarky
blog and actually make the republican case pretty well IMHO.

I still personally think dealing with tax avoidance and the old boy network
is a much more important step on the path to a truly egalitarian society
than getting rid of the bunch of krauts in Buck House.
