Eric, Also take a look at Gatley - between Cheadle and Didsbury. It's got a cricket club, a train station and is pretty decent.

You can get from Chorlton to the city centre in under 10 minutes and can walk to Old Trafford (cricket and football). Didsbury is another 10 minutes south of the city. Both are pretty close to the airport. I also worked in Cheadle which is much quiter with less shops etc. Chorlton is more of a Man Utd stronghold whereas Didsbury has all sorts - students, locals etc. Probably a bit like Headingley. So ideally there should be some form of infrastructure (shops, cafes, public transport) not too far away. It would be ideal to live in a small quiet village which is commutable. Finally, if you know of any good, trustworthy real estate agent Im keen on that as well. Im even keen on knowing which ones to avoid of course.
