Unless we are going for the top players most at our level are on 1 and 2 year contracts. Doesn’t mean they are crap but they sign them so they can pick up a signing on fee. Paying £5m for someone is pointless and unnecessary.
Let's face it signing Kasper or Johnson on long term deals would have been stupid, neither are exceptional players and while they might do a job at a Wigan or a Norwich we won't see Johnson on the plane to Poland/Ukraine and there are dozens of players of similar standard dotted around the leagues that we can snap up. They wouldn’t command high fees. What we have got to avoid this year is bringing in average loan players.
