or to put it another way (from the official site) -
The Centenary Pavilion will not be available for use by Members before the
Manchester United game. Peter Lorimer made the official announcement on
Saturday to those Members using the bar.

The decision to remove the Pavilion from its normal use was made some time ago,
and that message should have been communicated to all Members long before
Saturday, for which we apologise. It certainly was not the intention to leave
Peter Lorimer in such a difficult position on Saturday.

Since the start of the 2011/12 Season we have been using half of the Pavilion
to feed those corporate guests using the Level 3 boxes, and on Saturday for the
first time added to these the Level 4 box users as more of the East Stand
become available for use. This will remain the position until the corporate
catering facilities are available in the East Stand at which stage the entire
Centenary Pavilion will revert to use purely by Members.

When the Carling Cup draw came out with Manchester United, our immediate
objective was to establish how we could allow the maximum number of fans to
watch the game live, to include those from Manchester United. You will recall
when we visited Old Trafford in the FA Cup, we were allowed 9,000 tickets and
the ability to use corporate seats inside the stadium. After many
meetings/discussions, Manchester United fans were allocated the South Stand for
the game which is less than the cup rules provided for, but the maximum number,
in conjunction with the Police, we felt could be dealt with safely.

The East Stand, while under construction, is not able to work at capacity as
the requisite number of turnstiles/exit gates are not in place, but we still
wanted to be able to use as much of it as possible to meet our objective as
stated above. As it happens, with tickets still available it could be argued
that the additional 1,900 general admission seats were not required however the
decision was made at the time in light of the best information available to us.

With admission to the East Stand limited by the number of turnstiles available,
then we still had to determine how to meet the corporate demand and follow the
principle of wanting to allow as many fans to see the game live as possible. On
this basis, they will not use the turnstiles to gain admission and as a result
of this decision alone, we can use more of the upper tier capacity.

As the available seats in the East Stand Upper were corporate ones, then the
logical step was to extend the use of the Pavilion to accommodate this
increased number which is now being used by Leeds based companies. This was the
decision we took.

The failing in this process, accepting that not everyone will always agree with
the decision, in any event, was the late communication of this, for which we
apologise. I hope that the above explains the decision making process and that
after considering it Members can understand that we did so to try to ensure the
maximum number of fans could see the game live.

Billy's Bar will be open before the game and the turnstiles will open earlier
so facilities are still available to Members.
