I thought I'd do the journo's job for them and look it up. Don't know how accurate these figures are (they're from www.emfootball.co.uk), but here are the differences between the average gates for the (admittedly small sample of) home games in the Championship so far this year, compared with those from last year, sorted in order of the biggest drop to the biggest gain:
Team AveCrowd Last Season Diff Hull City 18077 21168 -17.1% Leeds United 23646 27299 -15.4% Barnsley 10424 11855 -13.7% Bristol City 13171 14604 -10.9% Crystal Palace 13867 15351 -10.7% Doncaster Rovers 9528 10258 -7.7% Portsmouth 14762 15707 -6.4% Reading 16665 17681 -6.1% Ipswich Town 18809 19614 -4.3% Burnley 14421 14930 -3.5% Cardiff City 22505 23193 -3.1% Millwall 12090 12438 -2.9% Leicester City 23032 23666 -2.8% Watford 12982 13151 -1.3% Coventry City 16121 16309 -1.2% Derby County 26833 26022 3.0% Nottingham Forest 24028 23274 3.1% Middlesbrough 17731 16268 8.3% As you can see, the trend is mostly downwards (only 3 have higher average gates and that may well have more to do with whom they have played so far than anything - or not). But the Leeds drop is certainly significant, and deffo above average.
