It did appear to me that Clayton was dropping deep to get the ball first half
but the defenders were just hoofing it forward. He just stood there a couple of
times with his arms outstretched as if to say wtf?

Pretty much agree with everything you say there Rich.  Wasn't quite as worried
about Rachubka as you were, but perhaps it looks more frightening when you're
there.

Agree about Pugh, I'm assuming the idea is that he gives the midfield more
solidity than a winger would, but caan't remember anything he did of note.

I think you're being a bit harsh on Howson.  He and Clayton are often
outnumbered when we play 4-4-2, and I think Grayson has asked them both to sit
a bit deeper in the last few  games to protect the Centre-Backs a bit.  Also,
Clayton has come on so well, that he is much more than just the work-horse that
we expected.  I think Jonny has been told to let Clayton charge all-over the
pitch as he seems to want to, leaving Howson to plug the gaps.  I for one won't
mind if Howson turns into a Scott Parker type rather than a poor man's
Fabregas. I really think that as a partnership the two can go a long way.  They
seem to be good mates too.  I just hop the rest of the team can get them there.

Keogh probably is the best bet up front for most of a game, but I've no
argument with bringing on a player with a better scoring record if you need a
goal.
