Despite being a few years junior, Gary was such a role model. The young man who got into the team, and - on ability - stayed there, and got better and better. Which of us wouldn't have loved to fly through the air with the imperious potency as he attacked those crosses? Which man wasn't respectfully jealous of those good looks, that athletic physique married with such an exciting approach to the game? And, by all accounts he was such a nice guy. Gary, you brought a lot of pleasure, excitement, pride and optimism to I'm sure many like me.
Bruvva Lee touched on our need to know why. Absolutely, we don't. Out of the immense respect in which all that we know of of Gary's life is clearly and deservedly held, I think we should not be told. If only the (powerful and influential) football world would stand up and say before it happens that any journalist who uncovers/makes public any dark private secret or scandal should be pilloried and ostracised as the worthless scurrilous piece s/he would be. Following Dr Mike's lead, have bought family tickets for Millwall. Please list, let us know of any plan/protocol so that can be best prepared to join in what I hope will be tumultuous show of respect and love for a great Leeds man.
