Pitch-side punditry is something ESPN have obviously inherited from their US
arm, where the crowds are generally less, erm, vocal (or 'throwy'?) and are
also usually further removed from the actual pitchside.

Not that that removes all the problems for the presenters.  I almost pissed
myself laughing just the other day when the pitchside team had to keep
talking at half time of the Alabama vs LSU game (Roll Tide), despite the
trombone section of one of the college bands being camped directly behind
their elbows.
