I think that we aren’t doing as well as I hoped (20 points clear), and we
aren’t doing a poorly as I feared (20 points adrift)

We are doing slightly worse than I expected at the start of the season, but
then again I think Gradel was a match winner and it helps to have 2 in a
team (Snoddy is the other), so that would explain it - plus we are not far
off.

I don’t think Bates spending £5m of his own cash would siginificantly alter
either where we are, or where I would expect. It would take a LOT of cash
(£15m) for me to expect automatic promotion - and that’s never going to
happen. I knew that 7 years ago. I knew that 10 years ago.

I  think it is the way you have read it (maybe the way I wrote it) rather
than the 'logic'Some fans think we are doing well Some fans are pro Bates
(or at least not anti) That is what I was saying rather than 'all fans who
think we are doing well are pro Bates '
