I dont think you HAVE to register an umbrella company. In fact some wont
work with umbrella companies.

It all depends on numbers though. Are you going to bill and add VAT? If you
bill for more than 70K per year
you have to get a VAT number. If thats the case you can chose different
schemes, flat VAT rate or not.

the way I do it is LTD, I ve got accountants and I use flat VAT rate which
is easier. In short I have chose
less paperwork and simplicity. I could probably have saved a bit by saving
receipts and all that but Im not
a "collector" type.
