I'm hoping to be able to tap into the accumulated hive mind of the List...
Last week the family decamped to our French house, where we have 2Meg Broadband (with wifi) courtesy of Orange/France Telecom. Upon arrival, we noticed that all of our devices were struggling with Facebook. 3 iPhones, an iPad and 3 laptops all show a rubbish 'list of links' type of page, not the correctly laid out, multi-frame page you expect. During the week, my laptop sometimes showed things correctly, but then it regressed. My wife's laptop and all the iOS devices have been bad all along. Acting on information found in a search, we tried changing our Facebook account settings to NOT require secure browsing (i.e. http:// instead of https://), and this partially solved it - the two laptops now show Facebook as expected, though still some pictures don't display. Non of the iOS devices have changed though - they still display things badly (if at all). I have tried using Internet Explorer and Google Chrome on the PCs. Both have the same results. If I remotely log onto my office PC back in Dublin, I can use Facebook without problems, even with the secure browsing option switched on. Today I also noticed that the bbc.co.uk website was displaying in a similar 'unformatted' fashion. Although my "2Meg" broadband isn't particularly quick (and it's NOT really 2Meg that's for sure), it's quick enough - no other websites or services seem to be affected (except the BBC one). So... any ideas? It's driving us mad :( Cheers, Nigel (the Dublin/France on) _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email [email protected] PETE CASS (1962 - 2011) Rest In Peace Mate
