I love the list me. After Saturday expectations were running high, now they are just the opposite. We've only had 2 games and we know that you afford to lose 10 in this league and still go up.
2 weeks ago most of us on this list would have said that the squad/team is not anywhere near good enough to get promotion and that may still be the case. However when I look back over the last 5 years, Leeds have had a set of high quality footballers in attacking positions (Beckford, Gradel, Delph, Howson, Kilkenny, Snodgrass). But often seemed to get beaten by supposedly lesser sides because of a soft under belly, and perhaps a lack of collective purpose. Remember the awful run in the 2nd half of the promotion season. Apart from the last 7 or 8 games and the win at Old Trafford, successive managers could not instil this purpose or whatever to ally to the quality. Colin is trying it another way. He seems to be getting the organisation, workrate and collective will first, and hopefully adding some gloss later. I don't know if it will work, but it might. In the meantime we will be out-passed and out played at times, but we will also win games on less possession from time to time, rather than contriving to lose games we have dominated as in the recent past. Whether the finances (from Bates or any future owner) will allow Colin to get the players he needs and whether he can blend them in is still open to question. But many teams seem to start promotion seasons simply by being hard to beat. Then with that confidence and a couple of signings, the quality comes later. KOT.
