Surprised no-one has commented on the officious email sent today from the club. C&P below. It sort of warmed me (after freezing last night) but then I got all cynical again. Anyway, here it is:
"Dear Steven It felt great today being able to write this e-mail on the back of a win like we had last night. As I’d said on Monday, the win against Everton in the previous round was special and we were looking to re-create that, and we were delighted to beat Southampton. It was a fantastic team performance from start to finish, and in the end I don’t think anyone could say the 3-0 scoreline flattered us. If anything, it could have been more. Now, we await the draw knowing we are one game away from the semi-finals. It’s great for the club to be through to the last eight and you can be sure that whoever we come up against we will give it our best shot to get through to the semis - and hopefully reward you for the part you have played in helping us get this far. Before then, we’ve got two tough away games in the league. I hear we’ve sold out for Brighton on Friday which is unbelievable considering the timing, the distance, and the fact the game is on TV, and I’m told we’re down to the last 500 or so left for Burnley on Tuesday as well. Then it’s back here for the game against Watford when, hopefully we can not only build on last night’s performance, but also on two good away results in the league. As ever, I hope you will be there to give us your support and we’ll try and reward you.
