Good man. Gueyrosse GC - available in Uk ?

I think today , Brum away and Soton home prove to me that we've been treading
water with Becchio in the team. Actually I didn't need those performances to
realise this but maybe others did.

I am ashamed to say I didn't go today, instead preferring to watch at home
with my daughter. (No GC unfortunately). I envisaged the return of Becchio, the
braindeads from the Kop shouting his name for 90 minutes and it all been too
much for me.

How wrong did I call it. Colin didn't even name him in his squad, or did
Becchio just not fancy it? We'll probably never know but one thing is for
certain , that's the end of Becchio and good fucking riddance I say.

Who will score the goals if he goes ?
Without his goals this season we'd be in a relegation battle ?

How many times have I heard this and from people who should really know better.
The fact is with Becchio up front we are a very limited team. Today you only
had to look at the effect a bit of pace (Varney) and a lot of control and
interplay (Diouf, Macca and Varney) . it can do wonders.

Everyone is running for each other, people are controlling the ball and laying
it off. This means that everyone has more space and there's more for the
midfield to aim for. The whole team benefits and we look dangerous on the
break. The stand out thing for me though was the runs beyond the Spurs defence
- Varney's goal and Macca's goal and miss. How good is it to see play like
that. With Becchio we never see it. Becchio has never scored, and actually
never will score, a goal like Varney's today - getting the ball , running 20
yards and slotting home.

And as for Varney, I've changed my mind. He's got a lot to offer at this level.
He has not been given much have a chance.Today he showed control, pace, great
heading ability (and to a white shirt) and an awareness of goal. He's twice the
player Becchio is.

Other points

Thought Aidy white did well and Byram, although skinned twice by the e xcellent
Bale, did well.

I thought Peltier finally showed he has something to offer, at centre back, not
left back and Brown was immense if only playing destructive, dirty football. He
really rattled Parker who he dominated throughout.

Macca looks lively up front and is now well and truly back in the goals.

The one worry I have is that teams like Spurs actually do let you play a bit
whereas when its back to Peterborough and the likes it'll be back to the 6ft 5
big arsed, no nonsense centre backs. Varney might have to show a bit more
strength in these games.

Still, I think this performance is a landmark performance, it's life PB (post
Becchio) and hopefully will convince the Becchio fans that we need to progress,
and the best way is without him.

Get one of those offers accepted Colin, lets say goodbye to hoofball and get
into those play-off positions.

Man City away - I might come out of away day retirement for this one if I can
get my hands on a membership card.

Cardiff ticket on its way.

MOT. Happy tonight.
