Got to agree with much of (what I assume is) the thinking behind Dr Mikes post. Personally I wish Becchio well and hope he does the best he can with the skills that he has. It takes many different things to make up a football team. I also agree to a considerable extent about Smith though I'm not sure that we would have been liquidated. There would have been dire consequences but not I think liquidation. Any alternative which kept us out of the dead clutches of Bates would have been for the better, but then we knew that even before Bates actually took over. The recovery from Bates begins in a very dark place and from a very low point. It is something very deep inside the club and possibly inside the fans. The "malaise" might get even worse before it gets better. (For example I'm not yet rushing back to buy tickets as my heart isn't back in it yet. It's too soon and the pain is still there). It might be the best that we can hope for is that the rate of decline has been slowed although perhaps not yet turned around. Anything better than that is really a bonus. There is a very feint spark deep in the darkness and that spark is that we can now at least hope. Until a few short weeks ago our only hope was that Bates would go one way or another. Now at least we can hope to begin our recovery. That's if GFH-C turn out to be kosher of course (Sorry Mike :-) ) _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email [email protected]
