Very selective of you Rich, Becchio scored 19 by the end of January THIS
season in the championship.
Ricky Lambert is in the premiership, I think, and Jordan Rhodes was until
relegated and has never scored 20 goals in the championship.
McCormack scored 18 last season not 20 and is nowhere near achieving that
this season (3), had that been Becchio you would have called last season a
flash in the pan.
Morison scored 20 goals in League One and 15 in the Championship for
Millwall.
Lambert played 90 minutes yesterday, didn’t score and couldn’t avoid getting
beat by QPR.
Rhodes played 90 minutes, did score but couldn’t avoid defeat by
Peterborough.

So by your own admission we really have one example of a footballing
goalscorer and neither of us can remember his name – old farts that we are –
Glenn Murray

I never thought Becchio was premiership standard either but that he was a
decent second division goalscorer.

Our current goal drought against poor form teams leads me to believe that we
should be careful what we wish for.

As for Macca’s pen being on target, that’s all it was – otherwise it was one
of the weakest attempts I’ve ever seen and if it had been Becchio you would
have been calling for his hanging.

score goals at Championshiop level. Ricky Lambert is one and Morrison has
proved for Millwall that he can do it too (45 goals in 2 seasons). Also our
own McCormack has proved it can be done scoring 19 the previous season. If
you look around there are others - the bloke from Palace who has nearly 30
goals already, Jordon Rhodes and many others. Yes some of these cost a bit
of brass but that's the sort of player we need to take us up.

> and it's funny you talk about Becchio as if he's a proven 20 goal a season
scorer - he never managed 20 in one season in League One and got 11 season
before last so don't make out he's something he's not.

> the Becchio watch thing is to demonstrate that this guy is just not up to
the premier league, in fact he's not even close. I never said he single
handedly could avoided getting beat against scum but he would have managed
the team or maybe the first striker sub if he was showing some promise.

> and of course Becchio would have scored both pens yesterday - not if he
took it like the one he missed v Yeovil. At least Macca got it on target.
