A wonderful day out spoilt as usual by a team unable to simply defend a lead, both their goals were well taken by Murray, but he wasn't meaningfully challenged for either. Overall Palace were the better team than us in most areas except commitment, I don't think Palace really fancy the rough and tumble. So, because we could boss things our midfield were as impressive as I've seen from us in the league this season, causing a lot of problems on the counter attack, but at the back and in the final third we didn't look at all convincing. Albeit lightweight, Palace have got some real talent up front and cut us apart so many times the could have scored a hatful if they'd had their shooting boots on or Paddy not on top form.
As usual the Leeds fans were better than the team, singing almost all the way through. Winding up Zaha with "You're just a shit scum bastard" and taunting him that he was off to scum to warm the bench , and he lost his rag and he gave us the finger, which led Holloway too pull him way over the other side out of our way. Normally ribbing a player like that ends in them scoring a couple of goals, but luckily didn't happen this time, although the lad is a real talent - could be the new Ronaldo, but then again could be the new Ryan Hall - Hall actually came on with a couple of minutes left but did nothing of note. We also had a couple of renditions of Sit Down if you Hate Manu, Stand up if you hate Manu and finally Shoes off if you hate Manu, a hilarious homage to the 10th Anniversary of the invasion of Iraq. After both goals a lot of the older lads ran down the steps to show their appreciation, trouble is they'll all getting a bit old nowadays and a couple ended up needing St Johns Ambulance attention, not sure if it was due to injuries sustained in the melee or the shock seeing 2 decent goals in one half. Just to cap a fun day out, Holloway was so incensed at Vaney's antics (and objectively had some justification as he was a dirty cheating little bastard all afternoon) that he almost started a fight with Peltier in the tunnel. So another 2 points dropped the playoffs a distant half remembered dream and probably just as well. But if we can get rid of Warnock and get someone for the long term and get a winger that can give Morison some decent service we might be in with a chance next year. First time I have seen Morison live and good to hear a couple of chants already. _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email [email protected] MARCHING ON TOGETHER
