I notice that Rudy was made captain for the match yesterday- is this just a one off for what was basically a reserve team or a sign of things to come ?
Brian McD has praised Austin on a number of occasions and has again complained at the decision to send him off which resulted in the 3 match ban (meaning he misses Brighton) Peltier did nothing last season to suggest that he is a 'captain' and it was very much a decision based on instinct by Colin after a number of players had the armband last pre season. It is hard at this stage to see which players are 'guaranteed' a place in the starting line-up - Rudy could be a big player for us, whereas Peltier may not get a place once Byram comes back as right back and we either bring in a new centre back or Pearce and Lees start well. I think Brian's idea was to bring in Mills or whoever and give them the armband but that tran sfer is looking far from certain I suppose the other thing is does it really matter who has the armband ? Lots of players talk about having a team of 'captains' and it is just natural that some players will talk / shout / encourage their teammates more than others ? Really looking forward to Saturday with a crowd of over 30k expected and the proverbial 'new start' actually happening. Of course a bad performance / result and a poor match day expericence and everything could be back to 'normal' dave _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email [email protected] MARCHING ON TOGETHER
