After going on Remembrance Day Parade today I was in the pub by 12 noon. After watching Spurs v Newcastle, the Sunderland v Man City game came on. Then just before 4pm the pub became swamped with people, many wearing red shirts and even scarves who had come in to watch the Man U v Arsenal game. The lads I was with (mainly City fans) made the odd comment about them being in a pub 5 miles or so away from the ground rather than watching inside the stadium.
It is the first time I have ever seen this phenomenon - fans who could go to game watching it in the pub and I wondered if it was the same in Leeds? I know there is a difference in that Leeds fans can just turn up on the day and get in,whereas Scum do sell out (albeit that it is not that hard to get tickets these days , and I am guessing that most (all?) of this lot would watch it in the pub rather than go) I do sing the 'if you're watching on the tele' song - not happy about it Brum game when I was in Lanzarote- but have never thought that in some pubs in Leeds there could be lots of fans choosing to watch a game in the pub rather than in the ground So I am asking, as a genuine question, are the pubs of Leeds full of "fans" watching the game when we on are TV ?
