Now that Cellino has confirmed that Brian has the job till the end of the season I cannot make up my mind what I want to happen. Of course I want us to get the 2 or 3 points we (may) need for safety but after that I am not too sure
OK I much prefer watching us win than lose and so I do want us to win every game BUT I no longer have 100% trust in him. That means if he does well and keeps the job for next season he will be the one who decides which players we buy (subject to Cellino) and we could face the prospect of him buying more dross - Smith and Murphy have done OK, but Murphy does not look worth £1m at present, Hunt, Zalilukas and Wootton have all flopped as have Stewart and Kebe. So if we are not careful the next manager could be faced with having to get rid of lots of players not good enough (similar to the position with Brian - think Green, Norris, Varney, Brown, Tonge, Diouf, Drury and to a lesser extent Pugh, Peltier & Warnock most of them brought in by Warnock) I can recall Peter Reid keeping us up - which was great- but being given the job full time on the back of it and totally destroying us If Brian does turn it around this season does that mean that his excuses / reasons were genuine and the demise has not been his fault or does it just mean the players are playing with no pressure and expectation and are giving their all in the hope of new contracts ? All a bit of a dilemma , or is it all academic since no manager will last more than a few months anyway ? dave _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email [email protected] John 'Grampa' Sykes Rest In Peace old lad 28th Oct 1938 - 12 Nov 2013 MARCHING ON TOGETHER
