Maybe Hock won't be the man - as another lister pointed out in his post match Hock was asked about Byram and his best position and he clearly stated that he sees him as a right back not a winger.Says he needs to improve defensively and get tighter but is good going forward but is definitely a right back (not sure why we have bought Berardi then who is a right back too?)
He says despite Lorimers assertion that Morison should demand to be played in the middle that Morison was happy to play out wide I quite liked his quote about us stopping playing after we took (he claimed) a deserved lead -"it is like when you are in a fight and have the bloke on the floor , you let him up and give him a free punch at you" If Holloway had said that the media would be loving it. He is very unhappy about the goals we conceded - 2 big punts up field "the easiest balls to defend against" The rest was all we tried hard, put in a shift, fans should appreciate the effort, we worked hard - room for more quality but we are improving If these comments are true then , fair enough, pre season is all about getting fit and getting better BUT the jury is very much still out on him and a poor start will have the fans turning on him I think. Reading various websites etc it seems the fans fall into 2 camps - those who want Hockaday out and out now, and those who want to get behind him and see him succeed but who harbour real doubts about him and it won't take much for many of them to join the other camp. I reckon if we lose at Millwall and go behind at Boro the first 'Hockaday Out' chants will be heard - he will not get the honeymoon period that the vast majority of managers (?coaches) get from fans up and down the country. He only has Swindon on Tuesday ( Glenavon will be a Leeds XI) and then Dundee Utd games to get it sorted Dave ________________________________ I've been championing Byram has a midfielder since the first day I saw him. It's only his great engine and ability on the ball that make him semi-effective as a right back in this league. However, he most certainly isn't a right back and has too much to offer going forward to be stuck defending all the time. Surely the penny will drop with a coach one day. Maybe the Hock will be the man. _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email [email protected] John 'Grampa' Sykes Rest In Peace old lad 28th Oct 1938 - 12 Nov 2013 MARCHING ON TOGETHER
