Phi Hay is saying that the deal for Frederick Sorenson has been completed (also talk of us getting Conor Coady from Liverpool who was at Sheff U last season) the deal for Sorenson is £300k now for a season long loan and then £3.5m to buy him
So to date we have got rid / lost / sold (depending on player / your point of view) Green, Varney, Ashdown, Diouff, Drury, Stewart - all made zero contribution last year and mainly good wage and old - good riddance Peltier, Zaililukas,Brown - had bit parts last time but mainly squad players with more bad games than good - no real loss - Ok money Lees - played most games but has lost his way - had to go - may re-find himself and be decent elsewhere or drop down leagues - whatever happens letting him go was the right decision McCormack - captain and all round best player last season - bit of a pain off the pitch (how many transfers did he nearly engineer / how many new contracts ? Wanted out and we got a great deal for him - sad to see him go and will be a great loss but had to happen in all the circumstances So mainly high earning dead wood who would not get any better and Lees & McCormack apart were not really first teamers. Only leaves us Kenny Norris as total dead wood with big question marks re Hunt, Tonge and maybe Morison but all 3 seem to be in and around the squad So 90 out of 100 for Cellino on that front Incoming - mainly young unproven players, who we hope are hungry and talented Taylor (back up only) Silvestri (23yrs) Berardi (26) - on bench. Bianchi (26), Doukara (22) loan plus, Benedicic (18) loan plus - highly rated, Ajose (22) decent upbringing needs to get back on track, Sorenson(22) loan plus - looks solid on paper, reports suggest he reads the game well and relies on 'interceptions ' rather than tackles - could dove tail well with Pearce and with a bit of luck will be a captain / orgainser Hard to say but 50-80 out of 100 - time will tell - Hockaday - could be a touch of genius appointment, could be a disaster, may not be here long enough to ever find out Got to admit I am getting excited about the new season and things are starting to look good on paper (optimistic view re unknown players) need someone to score the goals that Ross got last year - could be Smith, Morison will step up with Doukara and Ajose or more from midfield - a bit of a concern A total change in style and ethos around the club and the team - we could all be crying by December but maybe, just maybe things are really looking up for us at last ?
