Makes sense I would say.

Decent enough as squad cover next season, and after a successful loan spell
at Rotherham too he is the kind of player at the kind of age I suspect you
will quite easily find a taker for if he drifts out the picture next
season. So the club isn't particularly encumbering itself here.

If he kicks on and develops next season you don't want to then find he has
6 months left on his contract and all the bargaining chips.

I reckon we'll tie down Cook soon. And probably extend Mowatt further if
poss. And maybe a further extension for Taylor.

Byram is the pivotal one. He has been around for longer already. How much
longer can we persuade him to hang around for if he is getting sniffs of
offers from the Prem?
