Looking at other comments on my report, I re-read it since people seem to have
thought I had a negative view of it. I was very drunk (first drink for over a
fortnight and we had a good few pints, plus my meds) and I was not in the best
of moods when I eventually got home, a 'fatality on the line near Greenfield'
had delayed me by over an hour, so maybe I was a bit more downbeat than I
should have been.I did say we were worthy winners, had some good moves
especially our first goal and my optimism was still quite high.I stick by my
'hard to judge' in a, a friendly and b, a team with very high numbered shirts -
I have seen since that Everton claim it was a very young side they put out. I
also stick with 'nothing marked this as being Roslers team' - I do not recall
either myself or my 3 mates ever saying 'we would not have done that last
season' or anything of that nature.I was harsh on Wood with my 'cumbersome'
comment - that was just one move where he should have done better. He is a big
unit as they say, tall and very stocky - has the build of a rugby player but I
thought he did well, He held the ball up,put himself about a bit and looks a
handful - his goal was smashed from outside the area and all in all I think he
can do a good job for us and will get plenty of goals.Somehow the Bellusci /
Bamba partnership seems to work and I think Berardi is our most improved player
- he is very steady (apart from the odd rush of blood- he made one crunching
tackle that was a bit much for a friendly. I think Adeyemi did well and if he
can keep this up Murphy will find it hard to get his place back. Cook really
needs to get on the scoresheet we got away with Batty not scoring but we don't
have the same luxuries around him, especially if Adeyemi, notwithstanding his
goal last time out, carries on with his non goal scoring record (1 in 30 games
last season) - we cannot have only Mowatt scoring from midfield.
Next Sat v Burnley will give us some idea of whether we are good enough and
which end of the table we will be looking at, although it will take ten games
or so to really find out how good we are. I am impressed with the buys we have
made - 3 young but experienced players who will start (Adeyemi, Wood and
Dallas, if he signs) all of whom can get better and will do well if they can
cope with being Leeds players. Equally Erwin who I was hoping to get a proper
look at is one who could make a real impact. He only got 20minutes and was
fairly quiet except for one lovely piece of skill in the area that ending him
setting up Morison with an easy chance (that he fluffed) inside the box, a
great turn that beat the 2 players round him and a nice pass.So plenty to be
reasonably happy and optimistic aboutRoll on next weekDave
