Writing this at ht of the rugby - pretty sure that lancaster will be sacked by
the end of the week - will Rosler be joining him on the dole? This was poor, no
it was worse than that it was dreadful.
Brum picked up the easiest 3 points they will get all season. They came they
saw and they walked away with a victory without even breaking sweat. We managed
3 shots / chances all game against a team that had Paul Robinson (yes the old
bloke who played full back for us on loan a few years ago) as centre half. Pre
game Rosler had said that Brum would defend and hit us on the break - that is
about all he got right . They sat there, watched us huff and puff and then
ripped through us on the break. Yes, the ref gave us nothing, yes, they fouled
us twice in the build up to the goal but that is just whinging. We were pretty
awful. I thought Buckley was a good addition but he was so far off the pace it
was embarrassing. I cannot think of anyone who had less impact and less touches
of the ball on their debut as he did. Add to that the fact that Wood was
clearly not fit, Mowatt is playing like he is running in treacle and the back 5
are still shell shocked after Boro and you get an idea of what went on.We
controlled the game for a while without creating anything of note, and on their
first attack Cooper was harshly judged to have fouled Gray and even more
harshly was booked for it. Second time they came in our half Gray pushed and
tripped a couple but the ref just stood and watched him beat a couple of ours
and slam it home 0 1. Not quite against the run of play, but in pure
statistical terms they did not deserve it.
It took us to the 44th minute to actually create anything when Dallas burst
through and their keeper pulled off a good save.At half time they must have
been well pleased with the way things had gone - their game plan executed to
perfection. We did nothing for the first part of the second half and then took
off the totally ineffectual Buckley and brought on Bokata - the only player who
deserves his wages - and for a while things looked up. Bokata ran at them, had
a few fancy passes that worked and caused them problems. We actually got a bit
of control and for a while the equaliser looked on. Bamba had a header from a
corner that went just wide. Antenucci and Byram were both added to the fray and
our only decent move of the game nearly brought a goal. A lovely back heel from
Bokata to Byram who slipped it through to Cook whose shot went just past the
post. Antenucci added a bit of pace and verve to the team but it always looked
beyond us. Then with minutes to go they broke free again and that was it 0 2
game over. They did exactly what they came to do and went home , mission
accomplished. We had one bright spark, one positive and that was Bokata - he
looked to have something special. Today he was let down by his team-mates but
he showed that if (and it may be a big IF) he can do it week in, week out, we
may have a gem on our hands. As for the rest, give Antenucci a third of his
wages (he was only on the pitch a third of the time) and make the rest give
their wages to charity. We really were that bad. We looked totally
disinterested and devoid of ideas and invention. It could end up being a long
hard season. As for Byram, clearly he is off in January, but unless he gets his
mojo back it will not be to the Premiership and we will not be getting the
talked about £9m for himVery despondent and dissappointed today
Like I said at the start, Stuart Lancaster will be out of a job by the end of
the week and whilst I think we really do need to give a manager some time to
get it right a lot of fans have lost faith and confidence in Rosler. How long
will Cellinos patience last ? No wins at home all season is not the way to keep
your job
Dave
