Well Nick pretty much summed it up with his 'that was the most uninteresting
90minutes ever'At half time my son said ' I don't envy you doing a match report
today - nothing has happened to report on'
They are both right - we did start with 2 wide player and wood on his own top
with a midfield 3- as we managed to muster one shot of note all first half when
Carayol lashed one goalwards ( I have said 'lashed ' to make it appear exciting
!) but the keeper saved easilyThe 10,000 or so who did not return after the
Hudds debacle made the right choice - this was dire. It was tepid uninteresting
and not at all entertaining. Evans had promised us a team that would 'go for
it' every game and one that may not win every match but would try to do so.
Well not on last nights showing.
The one saving grace was that that were equally bad - we were all looking to
see the new keeper and what he could do, but a total lack of shots and no
crosses, corners or free kicks into the box meant that he had nothing to do.
The crowd gave ironic cheers for his first few kicks , a dig at Silvestri and
his woeful kicking.
Half time came and went and the second half was much the same with about 5
minutes worth of entertainment spread over 45 boring minutes. Taylor took an
awful corner as I recall. Then something odd happened Luke Murphy turned up. He
had a 5 minute spell when he was everywhere and looked like a footballer ! This
culminated with him hitting a good ball over the top and Wood managed to get
their before the keeper and defender and at full stretch poke it home.
We had all pretty much agreed that one goal would win this match - this then
changed a bit in that that would be the case if QPR had scored first but we
have not won till the final whistle says we have. The game meandered on
aimlessly as two clueless pointless sets of players found it impossible to
create anything of note and then suddenly one of theirs ran into the box
pursued by bellusci and another player. Down he went - penalty said the ref.
The subsequent boos each time Bellusci touched it indicated that he was the
culprit (I could not see from the other end)BPF in net had his chance to become
an instant hero but the penalty was well taken and he could do nothing to keep
it out.
Then right at the death a long range shot came in and Wood latched onto the
rebound but their keeper pulled off a fine save.
So another abject home performance - I suppose a point on a Tuesday night home
game is not to be sniffed at given our results over the last few seasons, but
this was poor fare.
then to cap it all off I got lumbered with the 'nutter on the bus' as some
strange bloke decided to befriend me with his life story.
Not sure where we go from here - the point is another point towards safety but
this team and this club is going nowhere without basic root and branch changes
Dave
