Woodgate appears to have played for England 8 times across 9 years and was
called up by 4 different managers - Keegan, Erikson, Mclaren, Capello.
Unsurprisingly he pulled out of several squads injured.

Hard to disagree with either of these comments - off the pitch there are lots
of stories (ripping up ten pound notes etc) showing that he was a dickhead and
always likely to implodeHowever on the pitch I still argue that he was (if ony
for a brief period) and would have remained but for injury much better than
FerdinandI was at his first (only?) England game away at Bulgaria where he made
a brilliant goal saving tackle.
As Tim says some defenders can defend others can play football - Woody could do
both.
Unfortunately he will go down, as many before him and no doubt others yet to
come, as someone who ultimately wasted his talent

Wood gate was never going to be a great because of the pitch he was a total
twat.
