Not too much to say. It was a very low key affair with chances and excitement
at a premiumPlus I had taken a lot of morphine and a few pints (first alcohol
for a few weeks)

When all said and done it was a pre season game in front of 11 thousand quiet
fans and against a foreign team most of us know nothing about. Not sure how
close this starting XI will be to that that starts next week, but, short of
Berardi and Cooper being fit and some other player(s) coming in , one expects
it must be closeGreenPerico (Italian trialist) Bamba, Bartley, TaylorDallas,
Diagourara, Vieira, Mowatt, RoofeWood
We did not really gel as a team and it was hard to work out what type of team
we will be. As for individual players I would say the followingGreen - not as
good as I wanted but made a couple of decent savesPerico - did nothing to
convince me we ought to sign himBamba - one great goal line clearance, some
good , some awful - the Bamba we are used to seeingBartley - a big unit and did
some stuff to suggest he could be the no nonsense CB we have been crying out
for, having said that, he could just as likely become the new liability at the
backTaylor - head not in the game, needs his future sorting, but everything
about him, his physique, pace , defensive skills and attacking prowess , makes
him look like he will be a top player. IF we can keep him, he may be the best
LB in the Division, if he goes he will take some replacingDallas - very
quietMowatt - also pretty anonymousDiagourara - a big lad but gave it away a
lot today
Vieira - my first look at him and I was impressed. Covers the ground well,
looks strong in the tackle and has a good eye and good reading of the game -
could make us forget about CookRoofe - quiet today, we did not get him on the
ball enough> What little he did he did wellWood - scored one (that was
disallowed to give pen) and took his penalty well. Led the line OK but nothing
special
We made lots of subs - Sacko impressed, a lot bulkier than I expected, tried
hard and looks to have paceGrimes - mixed, two or three good passes and tackles
but also two or three slack onesAntonsson - not on long enough
Our goals were a Wood penalty after a decent corner (?) had ended with a good
bit of football and a good finish by Wood but after the whistle had gone.
Second was a low near post corner by Phillips was turned in by Roofe - big
surprise to everyone , both players and fans when it went inWe also scored
another good goal but lino flag was up early onTheirs was a good finish from
outside the box and from a tight angle
As we know it is almost impossible to get anything from these games in terms of
who is good etc but it was a win against what looked like a decent team
Roll on next week
