The football might not have been the best but as an evening it was
great - queues at the turnstiles; no way to get anyway near the food &
drink counters; noisy and excitable crowd; lots of incident (fair play
to Viera that boy has some cojones) topped off with a small pitch
invasion at the end...Christ knows what would happen if we ever won
anything again.
On the train on the way home some Norwich fan who'd been in their end
was laughing about Bartley's "goal" saying it was possibly the most
outrageous handball he'd ever seen,

Just realised that as I watched the highlights via Walmot 3 on

To be fair the whole report was written in the early hours and I was
not at my best - Antonsson was a lot closer the goal line when he
"smashed it in" - but hard to get perspective when the ball is at
the other end (which should have been the clue that it was in the
first half!)Having said that I was still buzzing as I watched the
highlights at 7.30am !
Great night and lets hope it brings some of the missing fans back
and some new ones too

report - just one crow to pluck with you. It was 1-1 at half time -
we equalised in the 43rd minute.

Subject: [LU] Norwich Wow - this is what football is all about, not
the greatest game but when Vierra scored with that penalty -
amazingThe fact that I had to pay £18 in a taxi home to more than
offset the saving on the cheap ticket - who cares ?fact that i had
to share my train with both Craggy AND dick with a stick* - who
cares, even their nonsense could not wipe the smile off my
face"We're Leeds and we're proud of it", we all sang as the final
whistle after extra time sounded, and we meant it - this was a team
and performance to be proud ofThe ticket queues outside the ground
showed how good an idea the cheap tickets were, and all the open
stands were full (fair play to Norwich who sold 2k for this game - a
great turn out)I was disappointed as i worked out the team and
realised that only Bartley was a genuine first teamer, with Roofe
and Vieira both playing recently due to injury and for much of the
first half, we looked to be a second string team, hastily thrown
together (when will managers realise Mowatt is NOT a winger and
certainly not a RIGHT sided one ?) as Norwich took the game to us
and threatened to run away with it, some desperate defending and
some good saves from Silvestri saving us from a hammering. Their
goal when it came was well worked and well deserved as they tore us
apart and slotted homeWe did think we had equalised but Bartley was
booked for 'scoring' with his handSo 0 1 at half time and a
thrashing on the cards.
Second half we upped the tempo and got some fluidity going and got a
real foothold in the game. It was no surprise when we equalised
Doukara doing well and pulling the ball back to Antonsson who
smashed home.We could and should have won it but Mowatt could not
get the right touch that would have put it into an empty net,
doukara also had a great header well saved. We put on Sakho who
caused them all sorts of problems and Wood who had a
stormer.Unfortunately we also brought on Philips which meant we had
used all 3 subs so when Coyle could not come out for extra time we
were down to ten men! (The FA cup is allowing 4 subs in this
situation?)Our bottle had gone and we approached extra time down to
ten with the sole purpose of hanging on for pens, but this went
wrong as they beat our defence and headed home (looked offside from
my seat and Silvestri got booked for arguing)At that point I was
expecting 4 1 and was trying to work out if it was worth leaving if
they scored again to make sure I could get home. But this current lot
are made of sterner stuff and Sakho broke down the left and had a
shot that the keeper could only parry to the feet of the onrushing
Chris Wood who hit home ( a typical centre forward goal - brilliant
stuff) and so to pensThankfully taken at our end
They scored and so did Wood, then they missed and Roofe hit home - 2
1 with us with one in hand but Philips had his saved and then Grimes
(poor throughout) approached his - we were still in the driving seat
but as with most left footers at pens, it just did not look right
and he blasted miles over. SO suddenly it was 2 2 and the momentum
seemed to have shifted, but Silvestri saved and it was left to
Ronaldo Vieira to step up and striker the winning penalty -
pandemonium on the field and in the stands and a brilliant night
came to a close
All the irregular fans making their first (first for a while)
appearance at ER went home happy and singing into the night
Nights like this just make it all worthwhile - hoping for a good
draw tomorrow
