He was very good and we know he has the capability to put in performances like
this. If he did this every week I would eat my words although I do want him to
do really well.
I thought we played pretty well today although I don't think Sunderland are up
to much. They played like their crowd - shite.
I loved the way we played in the second part of the first half with Saiz and
Alloiski looking very dangerous especially on the counter.
here's my scores:
new keeper - 7. Had knack all to do but the one or two bits he did well. A
couple of dodgy kicks.
Ayling - 8. Battled hard but had a few dodgy moments against their best player.
I think someone with pace who has Ayling on the back foot has a chance, I think
that's when he struggles a bit.
Anita - 8. I thought he was very solid in fact that's what he is a very solid,
dependable player, exactly what you need in this league because most of the
players are not.
Cooper - 9. Very solid defending.
Jansson - 10. In complete control all day. Together they looked very solid
against a toothless Sunderland attack. Kyle who ?
O'Kane - 7. I thought he was busy but his play had little quality.
Philips - 8. Very good performance, battled hard, controlled the ball well and
used it well. He's got consistent pace and when he gets the pace of the game he
looks confident. Sunderland played with a slow pace which really suited him.
Siaz - 9. Livewire. I thought he had chances and made runs that we could have
made even more of. Great little player.
Allioski - 9. First half he was superb , looked very dangerous and I think the
absence of Wood allowed him and Siaz to get forward from midfield.
Hernandez - 7. Not on long before he got injured by a ridiculous mix up with
O'Kane but him and Siaz can definitely play together. Monk would never have
entertained two players like that.
Ekuban - 6. I was fairly impressed in that he ran hard and when he had the ball
he showed good control. Shame he got injured.
Subs:
Roofe - 7. I was really disappointed (again) - he's lightweight, no pace and
just can't stamp his authority on the game. Had a chance to play in his
preferred role as a striker but he is no lone striker.
Dallas - great header
Klisch - did ok
Overall, this was a perfect performance. The injuries are mounting up now.

Is it just me or has Philips had a very good game?
