Here's my complaint. When you are brought in as a "Director of Football" and
are responsible for the scouting, selling and buying of players, then I will
judge you based on the quality of players available to the first team "head
coach" (who is no longer called a "manager" because you, the "director of
football," have assumed so many of the responsibilities previously undertaken
by the manager). When you and your boss, the owner, say that the head coach is
expected to achieve a league position that is better than last season's, I
expect you to give him a squad that is better than the previous season's. I do
not believe Orta has done that, not even close. Just as an example, he sold
30-goal-a-season Chris Wood and replaced him with Lasogga, Ekuban, Grot and,
now, Roberts. I believe those four have scored a grand total of 8 goals between
them, and all eight have been scored by Lasogga.

It would be one thing if Radz and Orta had said that this season was going to
be a rebuilding one and that we weren't expected to make the playoffs. But they
didn't. They said the playoffs were the goal. And Orta, not the head coach, was
given the responsibility of assembling a squad capable of achieving that goal.
I hope his players prove me wrong by May, but so far, he has palpably failed to
do that. Other than the above-mentioned failure to sign a free-scoring
center-forward and the failure to sign a really good keeper, he somehow didn't
understand how physical the Championship is. It's great to have someone like
Saiz in the team, same with Hernandez, same (sometimes) with Alioski, Dallas,
Roofe, O'Kane. They all have something to offer. But they are all physically
small in stature, and when you put them all in the starting XI you end up with
a team of lightweights. We need some big, powerful, talented players somewhere
on the field between Jansson and Lasogga. This is all down to Orta. If he wants
the responsibility of picking the squad (if not the team), then he will be
judged by the quality of that squad.

Cheers!

Sean

Sean said.....I am still angry at Orta.... The man has been in the job for 7
months. I don’t understand this and half of twitter. Kyle bartley wasn’t
maldini It’s pretty clear there is a long term plan ( not sure about short
term)Saiz is the most exciting player for years (although flawed) He is
probably due some stick but I don’t understand it. We have signed shit players
for years Sent from my iPhone> On 10 Feb 2018, at 18:19, {broken-address}
