Some very good points I think Rich, I'd just like to add my two 'penneth on a couple of bits. Think we all need a bit of a slap really for jumping on us yesterday with 'this is awful' 'we've gone backwards' comments. We were disrupted moments before kick off and the natural solution (Pontus) is also injured, so we had to re-arrange. Swansea may well have lost 4 Premier standard players, but they're a good team (they're 3rd for gods sake!) and it was a very good test which, having weathered a bit of a storm, we finished far the better team and I've seen penalties given before for the challenge on Bamford with 3 minutes to go! But we'd ALL have settled for a point before for this game, unless we're deluded. I agree Saiz looked off the pace but, in his defence (And I did mention this last week) every time he had the ball, he had 2 or 3 on him INSTANTLY ... Teams will do this, WE have to find alternate routes. We NEED another BIG centre half IMHO, Cooper and Pontus leaves not much cover as was evident.

Put simply. We'd have lost this game last season 3-0. We didn't. We're MILES better than we were last season, but we've still got work to do to survive and dominate a season in the Championship. This is exactly why I love the Championship over the Premier League.

There were so many things wrong with that performance but who cares ?
I was impressed by the way we ground out the result after we lost our
captain in the warm up. As the game went into the last 20 minutes I
thought we looked the fitter and more likely to score. Yes they had
the best chance of the game but they were playing on the counter. Our
attitude, fitness and positivity were there to see and there was
absolutely no doubt that we were getting something from that game.
That is a remarkable transformation from last season.
Let's look at the positives.
Taking Philips off after 25 mins was incredible. Have you ever known a
manager do that ? Philips was terrible was getting overrun and was on
a yellow. Moving Klitch back and putting on Baker was a great move. I
thought Baker made a difference and some of his passing was excellent
whereas Kiltch did everything Philips couldn't, winning the ball and
starting attacking moves with intelligent balls forward.
Shackleton was brilliant especially for the first goal and he isn't
scared to go forward.
Some of the football at times was great pass and move football.
The Hernandez goal was top class.
They had height and without Cooper we had none but we still challenged
and made it hard for them.
The negatives:
Kalvin Philips showing that against a team with pace that run at you
he will struggle.
Siaz for me was the biggest disappointment. He looked a yard short and
struggled all night by his high standards and he also got booked for
petulance late on. Same old Siaz.
Ayling is no centre back . He gave it his all but I thought he looked
out of his depth and was all over the place at times.
Scores for me:
Peacock - 7. I thought he could hace saved the first goal but he made
up with 2 good saves late on.
Shackleton - 8. Was under a lot of pressure when defending but came
through well. I love this lad.
Douglas - 6. I thought he also struggled a bit tonight
Ayling - 5. Not a centre back
Beradi - 8. Held us together at times and the way he wins the ball and
drives forward typifies our team at the moment.
Kiltch - 7. Steady, consistent - everything Philips wasn't.
Philips - 1. Awful.
Allioski - 3. Don't rate this lad. Just a shame Harrison didn't take
his chance.
Siaz - 5. Off the pace.
Roofe - 7. Got his goal and you can't argue with that.
Hernandes - 7. Frustrating at times the way he concedes possession but
that goal was unbelievable.
Subs:
Baker - 7. Definite promise with this lad.
Bamford - 7. I thought he looked sharper and his run and pass for the
2nd goal was great. He looks like a real striker.
Harrison - 4. Disappointing. Made some good runs but no end product.
Not writing him off but he needs to do better.
Bielsa - all 3 subs on by 60 minutes. that's risky and we've seen that
go wrong before but he went for it and it worked.
Very happy with us at the moment
TOP OF THE LEAGUE and WE'RE GOING UP AS F'CKING CHAMPIONS.
