I thought exactly the same re Marcello and being on the scale. I’ve worked in 
lots of stats based roles over the years, so the data outlined wasn’t in itself 
unusual, but his approach to explaining it was akin to a database manager who 
has worked with stats his entire life, who knows exactly what conclusions, or 
otherwise, to draw from the datasets. In short, he’s really on top of it and 
very, very astute. 

Whilst we’ve all heard the ‘everyone does it’ comments, does anyone think 
managers like Warnock, Dyche etc could talk about stats like that? I’ve no 
doubt the Guardiolas/Klopps of the world have similar datasets, but I doubt 
whether they could acquit themselves as well as Marcello did, which is why he’s 
revered by top class managers. As for Lampard, I doubt he’d get past his 4 
times table!
