Not sure what to say - this was supposed to be the day it all went right On the way there we were trying to work out if they lost and we won whether we could watch / listen to Blunts at Hull and then if they were losing get to Leeds for 5pm to watch us beat Brentford and get promoted - or knowing our luck would we get a train at 4pm when they were losing only to get to Leeds to see they had won and watch a game that was not the promotion one ? 6 hours later and it had all turned to shit - first despite various cheers from lads in the RIdings watching the Sheff U game (we were outside in the sun) Forest did not get the result we wanted and Sheff got a win that put the pressure back on us a bit - no worries , same as before kick off we needed 10 pts from 4 games to ensure promotion - no problem We all joked about this was leeds and we would f*ck it up , lots of references to the Barnsley game in 89/90 when they had not won away and we were unbeaten at home "ah but they had God on their side with Bishop and Archdeacon" history will not repeat itself - this IS our year So we started and were great really putting the pressure on - then a shot stopped on the line - ref blew - had it crossed the line we all wondered ? Next thing red card to defender and a pen to us - Pablo stepped up and messed it up, oh dear but 11 v 10 we will be OK. A few minutes later the ball came to Bamford at a tight angle and he fired home 1 up - game over We created a few chances and ran the game till out of nowhere a very rare attack and the ball rippled our net - 1-1 at half time. No need to panic we all thought - this team is set up to beat 10 men and they were shit - would we win by 3, 4 or 5 ? Bielsa made 2 subs - off went Phillips for the more attack minded Forshaw, and more strangely the impressive Roberts who had had one great shot well saved for Roofe Then it all turned to shit - we were too over complicated up front with us trying to score the perfect goal mixed up with sloppy passes that were not quite right and total complacency at the back Then horror of horrors - they had another foray into our half and we were 2 1 down No worry , we had not been beaten when we scored first and they were down to 10 and they were shit and we are great etc etc But the clock counted down and our play got more and more ragged until the final whistle went and we had blown it - losing to the fucking pie eating bastards So - it is not all over yet (at worst we are in the play offs !!!) but what a nightmare day Dave _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: https://mailman.gn.apc.org/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email [email protected]
