Bielsa took an average team and got them to third place. In Guardiola's first season he took a team that had finished fourth before to second place, and that was a team littered with stars! It took Guardiola two seasons to win the title, Bielsa will do it next year (if he stays) He's created a philosophy all through the club, and I can't imagine that there won't be players who would love to come and play for him at Leeds. So I think we'll have a decent shot at getting some of our targets this summer, coupled with the fact that some U23 players can step up and know the system, I really believe we've got a shot at promotion.
And if not, I can't think of any other manager in the world that I'd rather have at this club. Yes we fell short this season, yes he has no plan B and believes solely in the purity of his philosophy but fuck me what a philosophy! I'd rather be supporting this team, who go out to play football and try to create as many chances as they can, than say a team like Cardiff under Warnock, whose philosophy is to win by not losing, keep it tight at the back and hope to nick something on the break. It's like the difference between Hurricane Higgins and Steve Davis, when Higgins played it was thrilling to watch (well as thrilling as snooker can be) Steve Davis may have won more but he was as dull as fuck. Yes, we need much better luck with injuries and we need to sort out a few problem positions but if we keep the bulk of the squad , which we should be able to, and then get some top additions either on loan or permanent and then bring through the likes of Shackleton, Clarke, Gotts, Odour,Stevens, Stujick, Halme and of course Edmondson then the future is looking great The last few months have been tiring and I am ready for a rest but I know in a few weeks time I will begin to miss that buzz of going to ER and will end up going to the home pre season friendly saying 'this is always shit, why are we here ?'
