I don't think it's that simple. What Bamford has been doing, pretty well I think, is holding the ball up. He's not actually getting THAT many chances early on in games but is doing a lot of work to hold it up whilst support arrives. I think the bigger problem is we don't get there fast enough, which is why the bigger query to me is "Why isn't Costa starting" - When Eddie was brought on earlier (V Swansea) it didn't quite work, which could be down to systems and readiness. I'd rather get Costa on (In place of Harrison) and see how that goes. THEN I think we should look, dependent on opposition, on whether Bamford and Eddie can play alongside each other, but doubt that would happen due to how MB works his systems.

Also, wasn't Costa brought in to 'relieve the pressure' on Pablo who, clearly, isn't playing particularly well at the moment. In which case, is there an argument to put Costa in for Pablo and give Eddie a go instead of Harrison? After all, we have committed to £15M for Costa, so we really should start to use him more … shouldn't we?!?!

Yep that's a good point and I like Bamford and as Dave says his
goalscoring record aint bad.
However, I firmly believe that if Eddie had been on from the start
against Barnsely we would have been 2 up at half time. There's no way
to prove that though so for now we go with Bamford.

Jermaine Beckford has just summed up my thinking exactly:

“They’re two completely different players and at the moment it’s working
really well,” said the retired striker.

“Patrick Bamford is putting in a lot of work and putting the defenders
under lots and lots of pressure, constantly for the 65, 70 minutes he
plays, then Eddie comes on for the last 20, 25, when the defenders are worn
out and tired.

“He’s full of energy, full of beans, his movement is fantastic, not to
mention his confidence in front of goal and his confidence levels, for
someone so young.”

I think if he gets a new player in who fits better into the machine he'll
change. It's all about the efficiency of the machine.
