I can think of two more recent managers who took the FA Cup seriously,
despite their many obvious faults otherwise.
Neil Warnock's finest 90 minutes as Leeds boss was the 2-1 fourth round
win over Spurs. We were then unlucky to get Man City away in the 5th
round, when there was plenty of dross still in the competition we could
have been drawn against instead.
And it's even worth mentioning Steve Evans, who got us past Rotherham
and Bolton in the first two rounds. We may have gone out at Watford in
the 5th round with an anaemic display, but at least we did so with
pretty much a full strength team.

That was truly dreadful. Casilla reminding people quite how bad
he
is.
Thought this might be a chance for Costa to put in a bit of a
performance and push for a first team place but no, he was
anonymous.
I think it's always tough on the u23s to chick them into a
disjointed team, but Casey looked awful. Jenkins didn't look
great
either but probably fairer to judge him in a more balanced team.
Disappointed with Phillips, he just strolled through the game,
Hernandez's passing was way off, especially second half and I
don't
think any of the subs did much when they came on.
I know the league is the priority but I was expecting better than
that today.
Let's hope this doesn't derail our season like some abject cup
performances have in the past.

Thinking a bit more about this - I know, I can't help myself -
but
those 4 outfield players (Bamford, Klich, Ayling & Dallas) are
the
runners of the team - its engine...we had no forward momentum
yesterday - I guess it proves that the squad is thin and that we
can't have it both ways...they all needed a rest (I'm sure he
would
have rested Philips as well had he not been already booked in for
his rest, next game) but that is what happens when they're all
off
together.
