Well that was another straightforward victory with none of the drama of Sunday
as we go back top ( where we belong)James was rested after his exertions on
Sunday and match winner Gnonto took his place - a sign of the strength in depth
we have
The first goal was amazing and well deserved even that early on (10 mims) An
intricate passing move involving Bryam, Gnonto , Tanaka and Solomon led to
Byram having a shot that ricocheted up in the air back to him and with his left
foot off the ground he hammered home with his right - a great scissor kick
reminiscent of Paulo de Canio famous goal
Luton then had their only real chance of getting something from the game, first
a shot from the corner of the six yard box beat Mes but Struik appeared from
nowhere and at full tilt running towards his own goal somehow hooked the ball
off the line - brilliant defending,  and a definite goal saver. Later they had
a cross to the far post where Byram had lost his man but the free header went
into the side netting. In between those 2 chances,  Gnonto should have done
better with a good chance
Then on the stroke of half time , game over. A corner by Rothwell was well met
by Struik but his powerful header was saved only for Piroe to fire in the
rebound
Second half passed without incident really, we kept the ball and total control
of the match. They took off a player called Marvellous - proving nonnative
determinism is nonsense- he like all Luton player was average at best.
A player with scum connections came on as Pantomime villain as we coasted but
without the mistakes of Sunday
Icing on the cake  DJ , on as sub  , was fed with a lovely ball over the top by
Bogle and he chipped the keeper - exquisite.
Biggie Smalls came on ( did not get the ex scum treatment) and entertained and
enthralled with some lovely touches - Georginio who ? Wober came on to muted
applause and a few boos ,unnecessary in my opinion
We even had time for Meslier to actually make 2 saves to increase his (
appalling) saves to shots ratio- 2nd worse in the division? And thereby keep
his clean sheet  statistic at the top of the chart
So a real tea party for us , a straight forward victory and the annual Gary
Speed applause and chant
Lets hope these 2 victories are the start of a real stretch of winsTop of the
league again
Dave
