I thought Aaronson had a very effective game last night - he moves the ball quickly, sees spaces, and panics defences. Yes, he does give the ball away too, often in really dangerous position, and I’m not a fan of his dribbles out of defence, but overall he’s become a key part of our team. Plus he scored - a flukey one yes, but it went in.
Our style of play makes whoever is our no 9 look hopeless, and Joseph played to type? Whilst wanting him to come good and prove himself, he looks way off this level at the moment. Wober is a conundrum too - starts off great, but once the games half-way through he looks off the pace - I think he thinks he’s too good for us, but actually I don’t think he’s consistent enough. Still a better defender than Firpo though. Otherwise a pretty decent night - less passing between Rodon/Struijk/Meslier, so the ball went down the wings quicker more often. Very fortunate with the Rodon non-penalty - Rodon definitely kicked him, and we got lucky. I said after the last game that Gnonto was off it, and he still is. I’d give him a few games in the 9 role to see if he’s any more effective than Piroe/Joseph? Mind you, I’d have given Bamford a go by now! Solomon looks a massive improvement on Gnonto, albeit he tries a bit too hard at times. Other results were great too - now we just need Miwwwall to do something! > On 11 Dec 2024, at 09:43, Damian WALSH <[email protected]> wrote: > > You're being a bit unfair to Aaronson on last night's evidence - he was the > (obviously planned) "press outlet", mostly taking the ball in tight > situations and trying to hold on to it whilst moving the game up the pitch. > Under the circumstances I was surprised at how well he did it.
