Great summary again Dave. Only slight quibble I have is that I thought the
shot for their second was pretty good actually. But TBH it should never have
got to that point. Mateo Joseph was extremely disappointing. He looked like he
just couldn't be arsed. Maybe he is off and knows it?

That was a bad day at office, you can blame Meslier ( and many did) you can
blame Farke ( even more did, his reception by fans at the end consisted mainly
of boos) or you can blame the team as a whole, it makes little difference, the
facts are this was a dreadful performance and result
In pub prior to the game the general consensus was that Ampadu should have been
given another week to recover, we would not need him for such an easy home
game. We were also slightly disappointed to see gnonto hadn't made into the
team and Aaronsen would keep his place. 35 seconds in we were doubling down on
the former, no need for Amps today, and glad of the latter as Brenden proved
his worth prodding home from close range as Piroe failed to take two chances
from a cross as the ball bounced around their 6yd box. What a start, let's get
another quickly and finish this off
Instead we totally lost control, our passing was awful and we lost every 50/50
as they snapped into tackles, denied us space and were by far the better
team.It looked as if we would ride our luck as a soft push by Rodon on a player
going nowhere led to Mes's first penalty save that did not result in a goal
anyway. Then a free kick thundered into the post and safely into his arms. It
was going to be our day.
Second half we again struggled a snap shot from piroe, well saved, and a James
curler just past the post our only efforts to increase our lead. Then disaster,
Tanaka totally needlessly gave away a corner that led to them having a great
shot from distance, Mes seeing it late pulled off a brilliant save, a match
winner and Mes was our hero and saviour. The only snag it went for another
corner , out came Mes to collect it with an easy catch , and suddenly he
dropped it at the feet of a swansea player and it was 1-1
With 5 normal minutes left Gnonto came on and with his first touch he buried a
clerance back into the net a great strike, we were saved 3 pts we did not
really deserve.
The ref added 8 mins for all their time wasting but it was us who suffered, a
throw in by us on the edge of the box was miscontrolled by Joseph, Tanaka
missed his tackle and a tame shot was missed by Meslier and two points were
thrown away.
Meslier, quite rightly will take most of the blame, but Bogle and Gnonto apart
they were all dreadful and we were lucky to get a draw.
The collapse of last season will now loom largeat least till our next game.
Our cushion has gone, behind Sheff u and level points with Burnley, not good at
all
