My son is a GK and I've always had to tell him, yeh you might have let one in, but how many goals did the forwards miss. Usually many. I still remember a match I played (it wasn't going our way) when our captain had a whinge at the ref about 'how this game has lost the truth' and the ref, who I recognised as someone i'd played amateur cricket with many years prior, simply said 'its just a game about scoring goals son'. Point being, we should be scoring more, and we're not. Scapegoating Meslier is a bandaid.
