Not a lot to add to Rich’s report (or Dave’s from the posh seats) I think it is interesting just how many of our players look comfortable / steady at this level - possibly against all but the best - all the back 4 - I’m really impressed with Bogle and Gudmundsson so far (albeit Bogle went missing for that last minute equaliser).
Ampadu and Longstaff look solid - Longstaff was MOTM yesterday, just ahead of Gudmundsson or DCL - Stach brings a lot but then appears to get caught “running through treacle” or just standing still. Tanaka we need to see more of, but that does mean a change to 4-4-2 or dropping one of the others. DCL looks the business - mobile, strong, good in the air - let’s hope he stays fit and bangs a few in. The players around him need to get used to the idea that he’s going to win flick-ons and start moving for them. Okafor - was invisible for 20, then really came into it and looked dangerous… then went off Aaronson had the kind of game that infuriates those who are not fans - like me - he was gash for the first half, giving the ball away time after time… and moves broke down around him … and then he has as good a 30 minutes as I’ve seen from him, and so you know he will start the next game (and on those 30 minutes why wouldn’t he) Harrison looks fizzing when he comes on, like he has a point to prove - which I like in a player. Dan James is an impact sub at this level, not a starter. I’m not convinced that any one of our keepers is significantly better than any other… they all have good moments and bad. Strangely I’m least convinced by Perri. All of which kind of makes you wonder about Bijol, Piroe and Gnonto. I’d have taken a draw yesterday, then it felt like a gut punch… but I suppose we did the reverse to Everton. Now let’s win next Saturday.
