AMORIM SACKED ... this came in as I was about to post

Did the best to make the most of terrible scheduling by landing in the West
Riding before 10. Absolutely rammed. 6 pints later and everyone piles out of
the pub because 'Scum are here'. Actually it was just the police escorting some
of their fans down from the Cuthbert to be bussed to the ground. Quite funny
though seeing a load of 50 / 60 year old blokes getting all excited like it was
1984 again. I think that's the most police I've ever seen at a football game !
The number of vans escorting 4 or 5 busses back to the station was incredible.
I won't give a full account of the game because my 6 pint analysis might not be
accurate but my overall impression was that they were there for the beating and
we just weren't good enough to do it. It's one of the worst, if not the worst,
scum team I've ever seen. Apart from Cunha and Zirkzee when he came on I think
they offered little. I think we missed Ampadu, Bogle and Rodon and also looked
at times a little jaded but overall it's a good point against a top 5 side
(although I'm not sure they are currently with their injuries).
The atmosphere wasn't typically of a game against Scum and there wasn't really
any nastiness to get the crowd going. We needed Ratboy Fernandes moaning like
fuck at the ref throughout to really get some hate going. The current Scum team
is full of very average but very expensive non-entities. 12:30 Sunday didn't
help.
I thought we defended pretty well with Bijol coming into his own and Bornauw
looking solid for most of his time on the pitch. Our best player was Aaronsson
by a mile and he scored a great goal after outpacing the scum defender and
putting it in the bottom corner with his left foot. Well deserved for him
because he has really turned things around and you have to hand it to the
manager for sticking with him when the majority of the fanbase had given up. I
even heard his name chanted today !
Their goal was a great pass from Zirkzee (who I rate) leaving our keeper in no
man's land and making it easy for Cunha. It's not the first time Perri has been
hesitant when coming off his line. I think he's a bit of a weak link at the
moment but I'm hoping he will improve / learn without making too many more
mistakes.
We tried to snatch it late on and did come close but overall I think a point
was a fair result.
Scores:
Perri - 5. Big mistake cost us.
Justin - 7. Obviously doesn't offer as much as Bogle going forward but he
worked hard and I think he's a great little player and good defender.
Gudmonssen - 7. Worked hard, defended well and tried to get forward as much as
poss but wasn't effective
Bornauw - 7. Hasn't really put a foot wrong in his first couple of games.
Solid.
Bijol - 8. Commanding. He looked like he couldn't defend in his first couple of
games. Mind you, so did Chris Fairclough and Rio Ferdinand.
Strujik - 8. I've been really impressed with him over the Christmas period. I
was never a massive fan , thought he'd struggle inthe PL but he's proving me
wrong.
Stach - 7. Worked hard but struggled to make a real impact on the game.
Gruev - 7. Did his usual job in working hard, closing down and passing simply
and effectively.
Justin - 7. As mentioned above
Okafor - 6. Frustrating because he definitely had the beating of their right
back but didn't do anything effective with it when round him.
DCL - 7. Won his headers, was unlucky with a 2nd half header which narrowly
missed (hit the post ?).
Subs:
Piroe - 7. One decent shot and he looked ok. I think the scum defenders were
tiring by this point Tanaka -7. Battled hardWilly - 7. Made a difference
