Terry,

Exactly. He is hoist by his own petard on this one.

Russell Thomas of the Guardian quotes Blackwell as saying:

"I don't have to hang around here. If they don't want me, then that's the way it's going to be.

"When I get threats to my wellbeing you have to wonder why people do the job sometimes."

I'm not sure that Blackwell, with all his coaching diplomas, cerificates from Warwick University and years in the game, has yet understood the way that sometimes what you say to the press may either be misconstrued, or, worse still, be taken at face value. The UK sports media is very rarely fair and has an extremely narrow view of the world. If he is expecting anything more cerebral he is sadly mistaken. It's a bit like those people who consider the average footy fan to be a noble being only interested in the finer points of the game.

sad

Betty

For all his years in the game the last two seasons are the only ones where he has been the one who has to give the media their quotes and sometimes the things he says are a bit cringe-making.
Maybe he'll learn to be a bit more careful how he says things.
He strikes me as being an honest sort of bloke who wears his heart on his sleeve a bit and says what he really thinks instead of dressing it up and being diplomatic. It's not a bad fault to have if I'm right in my assessment of that side of his charachter.
